We Find the Misplaced.
Every young person who feels lost, overlooked, or forgotten deserves someone who believes in them. That's why Misplaced Foundation exists.
How We Started
Born From the Community, Built for the Community
Misplaced Foundation was born out of a simple but powerful truth: too many young people in our cities are not broken — they are simply misplaced. They have potential, drive, and purpose inside them, but no one has shown them the path forward.
Founded in Washington DC, we grew from a grassroots effort into a multi-city organization now serving DC, Maryland, and Atlanta, Georgia. Our founders — themselves products of the communities we serve — built this organization because they lived the experience of being misplaced and found their way through mentorship, education, and community.
Today, Misplaced Foundation reaches hundreds of young people every year through direct mentoring, school engagement programs, and community safety initiatives. We are not a charity — we are a movement.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To empower young people of all ages to discover their purpose, stay in school, and build lives free from crime and violence — through mentoring, education, and community.
Our Vision
A world where no young person feels misplaced — where every child, regardless of zip code or circumstance, has access to a mentor, a path, and a future.
Purpose
We believe every young life has a purpose worth discovering and pursuing.
Community
We are rooted in the communities we serve — not outsiders looking in.
Accountability
We hold ourselves and our youth to high standards, with grace and support.
Hope
We lead with hope — because hope is the first step toward change.
Equity
We fight for equal access to opportunity for every young person we serve.
Excellence
We pursue excellence in everything we do — for the youth who deserve nothing less.
Where We Serve
Three Cities. One Mission.
Misplaced Foundation operates across three major metropolitan areas, each with dedicated staff and community partnerships.
01
Washington, DC
Our founding city and headquarters. DC is where Misplaced Foundation began and where our deepest community roots run. We partner with schools, community centers, and local organizations across all eight wards.
02
Maryland
Serving youth across Prince George's County, Montgomery County, and Baltimore, our Maryland chapter brings mentoring and crime prevention programs to suburban and urban communities alike.
03
Atlanta, Georgia
Our newest and fastest-growing chapter, Atlanta brings the Misplaced Foundation mission to the heart of the South — reaching youth across Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties.
